Some retrievals cannot wait for a fax machine. A statute of limitations expires on Friday. A patient is on the surgical schedule tomorrow morning and nobody has the cardiology report. For those cases we have added an urgent priority tier to the API and the dashboard.
Urgent retrievals skip the planner's normal cost optimisation. Every reachable source is queried in parallel from the first second. Any provider that does not respond electronically within five minutes is escalated to a voice agent immediately rather than after the usual business-hours scheduling, and the retrieval is pinned to a dedicated specialist queue where a human is watching every step.
During the six-week beta with three law firms and a surgical group, the median time to first source for urgent retrievals was three minutes fifty seconds, and 71% of urgent records were complete within two hours. Providers that only accept fax remain the long pole; for those we now also attempt a same-day phone confirmation that the fax was received and is being processed.
Urgent priority is billed at a premium per retrieval and is available to all customers today. Set priority to urgent in the API, or toggle it when creating a retrieval in the dashboard.
